Tools Introduced for Staff Working from Home

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, many DLE staff members have been working from home in order to shield themselves and their families from the virus and to prevent it spreading further. Here, we look at some of the continuity productivity tools deployed by DLE IT department to enable staff to work from home successfully and ensure that our services to clients and stakeholders continue.

Zoom

Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing service you can use to virtually meet with others – either by video or audio-only or both, all while conducting live chats – and it lets you record those sessions to view later. Over half of Fortune 500 companies reportedly used Zoom in 2019 and during 2020 has hit even greater heights, recently claiming 300 million daily Zoom meeting participants.

Microsoft Stream

Microsoft Stream is an enterprise video service which people within an organization can use to upload, view, and share videos securely. It is possible to share recordings of classes, meetings, presentations, training sessions, or other videos to help teams collaborate with each other.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a proprietary business communication platform developed by Microsoft, as part of the Microsoft 365 family of products. Teams primarily competes with the similar service Slack, offering workspace chat and videoconferencing, file storage, and application integration. Teams is replacing other Microsoft-operated business messaging and collaboration platforms, including Skype for Business and Microsoft Classroom.

Microsoft Planner

Microsoft Planner is a planning application available on the Microsoft Office 365 platform. The application is available to premium, business, and educational subscribers to Office 365.
